The Awards Go to  –  – EVERYONE Involved in the 2015 LARA Golf Outing

What a wonderful time was had by all at the August 19 (2015) LARA Golf Outing. The staff at Hawk’s View Golf Club deserves much of the credit for a day filled with fun and fund raising for several important causes. Matt, Sue, Adam and all the team went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy.

A record $1605 was raised for Twin Oaks Shelter for the Homeless, thanks to the generosity of our members and guests. Helping individuals and families through transitional housing and compassionate programs is a cause near and dear to our hearts. Renae Mitchell, Program Manager is very appreciative of our support and we enjoy having her at our events. We plan to work with her again at the December 10 Installation & Recognition Banquet at Hawk’s View and hope our members will help us set a new fundraising record.

Over $4,000 was raised for RPAC and RPAC Direct Giver, through the annual Challenge Hole competition and a live auction of “Lake Life” experiences. Special thanks to auctioneer Bob Hagemann who graciously provides his professionals services for these events, to RPAC Chair Becky Merwin and Government Affairs Chair Brad Lois for helping with this successful project. Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without the kind hearts of Andy Szymanskyj, Brad Lois, Joe Busch, Becky Merwin, Bob Webster, Karen Ostermeier, Pam & Gary Franzen, Jan Alvey, Gary Grolle and Mary Beth & John Bromfield, who donated the auction items and their personal time for the experiences. Names of the winning bidders won’t be published here, but we greatly appreciate those who invested. RPAC does make a difference!

Participation prizes were reduced somewhat this year, in a slight change resulting in time and money saving ideas that worked out favorably. Almost every golfer went home with a complimentary golf towel commemorating the event, a “goodie” bag and gifts from our generous sponsors. The good news is we had many more golfers than we originally anticipated, so a few people were without towels. For the first time in years, we had over 100 golfers and close to 150 people for dinner. Thank you to everyone who golfed, sponsored, or contributed to the success of this event in any way, including Tom Keefe, Amy Giovannoni, Sophia Erzumiah and Katrina Lubinski for their time and energy.

Photos capturing the many smiles of the day are posted in an album on the Lakes Area Realtors® Association Facebook page. Congratulations to Tyler Meyer for winning the ‘ #LARAGOLF15’ social media contest, for getting 92 “likes” on his fun photo with Tracy Sallee. And congratulations to Ryan D’Aprile who had his first Hole-in-One, while playing on Barn Hollow. (Yes, he actually did buy a round for everyone in the bar afterward!)
