Important News for Working with Out-of-State Licensees

As of January 1, 2015, Wisconsin has a new law regarding cooperation with out-of-state licensees. Generally, under the new Wis. Stat, § 452.137, an out-of-state licensee (OSL) cannot practice in Wisconsin unless there is a cooperative agreement in place between the out-of-state broker and the Wisconsin broker. An OSL cannot list a Wisconsin property, with or without a cooperative agreement. Only a licensed Wisconsin broker can list Wisconsin properties.

Here in the Lakes Area, we have many dual-licensed REALTORS(R), to which this does not apply. This applies to those licensed in another state (often Illinois) and not in Wisconsin. Please take time to learn more about this important change.
